Kenshi Base Building

 So you've got a squad going and now you think want a base, why?

The benefit of a base that you can craft gear that you can't buy and produce food and medical gear for the cost of squad members.

Your squad will look badass when they all wear co-ordinated gear.

But when you first start, there are a few things to take into consideration.

The first mining machines you build are manually operated, that's 3 people on Manual Stone Mining and 3 on Manual Building Materials.

Then once you get Iron up and running, 3 people on Manual Iron Plate.

The mistake to avoid is adding storage for Stone, Building Materials, Iron Ore, Copper and Iron Plates - each of which holds 100 items.

That way you can have 3 people working the whole set, or perhaps 3 on the Building Materials chain and 3 on Iron Plates chain. 

The Machines have input and output buffers

 

Stone Mine: 10 stone out

Manual Stone Processor: 20 stone in, 10 Building Materials out

Manual Iron Refinery: 5 Iron Ore in, 10 Iron Plates out

Well 10: 10 Water out

Vegetable Farm: 5 Water in

Wheat Farm: 10 Water in

Cotton Farm: 10 Water in

 an output buffer of 10 items and when it's full, your guy will go do their next job.

So set up 3 characters with the following priorities

Engineer

Operate Building Materials

Operate Stone Mine

Operate Manual Iron Machine

Operate Iron Mine

And they will make a build everything and it only took 3 people

For farming it is different. You need to make sure your produce is harvested and put away asap because it rots in the ground, so make storage for them.

Operate Vegetable Patch

Operate Wheat

Operate Water

When you have more people you can dedicate someone to each job individually. As you climb the tech tree there is less manual labor needed.

GET FOOD GOING

10 green fruit will create a Vegetable Patch S then 15 each upgrade to M to L

You can buy green fruit at bars 

Depending on where you are

10 Wheatstraw will make a Wheat Farm S then 15 to upgrade to M to L to XL

Wheat makes Flour which will makes bread

Cactus makes chewsticks

Cactus + bread makes Dustwhiches

Bread + greenfruit will make Foodcubes

Riceweed makes Rice

Vegetables + Riceweed makes Gohan
